Monkey Eating Corn

The answer is… corn on the cob.

24

A container without hinges, lock or a key, yet a golden treasure lies inside me. What am I talking about here?

Chest Box

The answer is… an egg. Did you crack it?

23

You go at red and stop at green. Any ideas what this item might be?

Traffic Light

The answer is… a watermelon. That was a bit of a trickier one, what with the traffic metaphor. It drove me to distraction anyhow. How did you get on? Let us know in the comments.

22

What type of cheese is made backward?

Stack of Cheese

Alright, so I’ve given you a decent heads-up here. We’re talking cheese. Appetite whetting and, in this case, brain teasing. Think you have the answer?

The answer is… Edam. I could wax lyrical about that cheese all day.

So, I made things a little easy for you with these past few riddles, because they were all food related. It’s going to become a bit more challenging now, with some location-based puzzlers. Don’t worry, we’re going to have fun. But you surely didn’t expect this to be a cake walk, right?

21

These people sailed across from Europe So they’d have freedom to worship their God Once they’d overcome many obstacles They finally reached dry land at Cape Cod.

Europe Seen on a Globe

Alright, so is this the best poem in the world? Not really. But it gives you a whole bunch of information.

The answer is… The Pilgrims.

That was an easy and fun one if you know your history. If you don’t then I’m guessing you were pretty stumped.

What was the largest island in the world before Australia was discovered?

Australia Map

There are some big islands out there, and the Land Down Under definitely takes the crown. However, what island did it beat to win that title? Time for a pause and a ponder before I reveal the answer.

The answer is… Australia. For those of you who are confused, Australia was the biggest island on the planet before its discovery, and it was still the biggest after we found it! Yes, I was yanking your chain, sorry about that.

19

I met a man on London Bridge, He tipped his hat and drew his name.

Tower Bridge

Now, what is the name of the man I just told you about? The answer’s quite easy. I actually gave you all the info in the riddle. Scroll back and listen again and you’ll hopefully see what I mean. I’m about to give you the answer.

The answer is… Andrew. “And drew his name”!

Riddles can be fun, or they can be challenging, or both. This next set of mind bogglers addresses the nature of the universe. In a fun way of course.

18

Two round cakes are outside your window every day. One is as cold as ice. The second is boiling hot.

Cake in a Baking Pan

Sounds tasty but what is this riddle referring to?

Ready? The answer is… the Moon and the Sun

I thought the Moon was made of cheese? Hmm, maybe it’s cheesecake.

17

What comes once every minute, twice in a moment, and yet never in a thousand years?

Alarm Clock

The answer is… The letter M.

Let’s move away from questions about celestial bodies and time, and instead focus on stuff we think we know pretty well. These next riddles deal with matters closer to home.

16

Five brothers live next door. They do not stand for growth. Their names are different.

two fingers

Who are these brothers? If indeed they are brothers. Maybe they’re just side by side. Have you nailed it yet? I’m giving you a little clue there.

The answer is… fingers

15

What can be touched but can’t be seen?

Finger In A Mirror

Hmm, this one has me beat I have to say.

The answer is… the heart. Be advised, this riddle does not apply if you are a surgeon.

I’m now going to look at some great riddles that have featured in movies and TV shows over the years. You might recall some of these. If you don’t, you’re going to have a lot of fun. Some of these entries are quite surprising.

14

You wake up in the morning. Your paint’s peeling, your curtains are gone, and the water is boiling. Which problem do you deal with first?

American Bulldog resting
13

Which President wears the largest hat?

Person Holding A Hat

The answer is… The one with the biggest head. I should add this was posed by the classic Frank Gorshin Riddler from the 1960s TV series. Not Paul Dano from the movie, he’s way too depressing to have fun with.

12

Arnold Schwarzenegger's is big. Michael J. Fox's is small. The Pope has one, but doesn't use it. Madonna doesn't have one at all.

Madonna

This sounds pretty raunchy, and definitely something you would hear on that series. Pause if you need to, I’m about to say the answer.

Which is… a surname. There you go, it wasn’t so rude after all.

11

What’s round, but not always around? It’s light sometimes: it’s dark sometimes. Everyone wants to walk all over me. What am I?

surface of moon

The answer is… the Moon. We did the Moon earlier but hey, I’m not gonna argue with the Stath.

10

Don’t be fooled. It isn’t thunder. Staying put would be a blunder

A Cattle Herd on a Field

The answer is… a stampede. Cue a bunch of rhinos smashing through the house! Not an everyday situation for sure. Unless you run a rhino sanctuary, in which case this riddle is totally appropriate.

9

There are two doors. One leads to the castle, the other to certain death. You may ask one question, to one guard, to help you divide which door is the correct one. One guard always lies, and one always tells the truth. How do you choose?

Doors in Blue Building Wall

This kind of riddle has been featured in other things. I think they used it in an old episode of Doctor Who one time. You’re going to need that pause button for a good thinking session.

The answer is… Talk to one of the guards as instructed. Only you play your own trick on them. What you do is ask the guard which door they think the other guard would pick. You then do the opposite of what they reply. That way you’ll always pick the right door. Logic wins every time.

I forgot how much of a mind bender Labyrinth could be! Let’s have some proper fun, care of this next group of riddles. I promised fun and I’m damned well going to deliver it, with some puzzles that’ll make you chuckle.

8

Start

The answer is… the beginning. Of course it is!

7

World map on white wall

The answer is… Uh, well she’s still alive. Maybe when she’s actually deceased we can talk about that question.

6

I don’t have water, but I have rivers. Even so, there are no trees or living things in my vast forests. I have cities, but no one lives in them. So who am I?

Woman Looking At The Map

The answer is… a map. Actually I tried living inside a map once. The experience was a little flat. No wonder my business folded.

5

A man leaves home on foot one evening, makes three left turns and arrives back home to find two masked men waiting there. Who are they?

Man Playing Baseball

This brain teaser from the world of social media sounds ominous, but is actually quite funny. Worked it out yet?

The answer is… A catcher and an umpire. The man just made a home run in baseball.

4

The man who made it sold it. The man who bought it did not use it. The man who used it did not know it. What is it?

Payment

The answer is… a coffin. That riddle is again credited to social media. Who says Facebook rots your brain?

3

What is full of holes but still holds water?

Water Droplet

The answer is… a sponge.

2

You’re woken up first thing in the morning by a knock at the door. It’s your parents, who came to have breakfast. In your fridge you have… bread, milk, juice, and a jar of jam. To answer, what will you open first?

Man Yawning

The answer is… your eyes. Hmm, that riddle came from another social media user who clearly has too much time on their hands!
