However, this extremely traumatic experience has not detoured him away from placing bets. When Williams was a teenager he once lost all the money he stole from robbing a nail salon to a game of shooting dice.

Even now as an adult his sisters fear for his money. They try to keep him as far away from Vegas as they can. Williams admits that the thrill of gambling runs through his blood.

Young Thug’s life was forever changed when he became a father at 17. He quickly realized that he needed to provide a better life for him and his daughter. It was during this time when he started to take his rapping a little more seriously.

Approximately three years later Williams released the first installment of his mixtape series – I Came From Nothing, in 2011.

Shortly after the debut of Williams mixtape, his music started to gain attention. People who were streaming his music quickly became fans. Even famous artists were intrigued by his unique sound.

Rapper PeeWee was so impressed with William’s music that he told his friend Gucci Mane, another famous rapper, to immediately sign him to his record label. “I had a bag with some money and got $25,000 out and I signed Thug right there. Never even heard a song from him. I value Peewee’s opinion so much,” says Mane.

From there, Williams soared to stardom. He didn’t become a household name like Beyonce or Taylor Swift, but Young Thug’s fandom was growing. He went on to release his first hit single Stoner followed by Danny Glover. In 2013, Williams was listed as one of ‘25 Rappers to Watch Out For’ by Complex Magazine. Then in 2016, Williams released two new mixtapes called Jeffery and Slime Season 3.

In 2016 DAZED magazine released an article referring to Williams as the closest music style icon we have to David Bowie.

His flamboyantly eccentric style has left people wondering about his sexuality. He admits that he is neither gay nor straight. However, Williams has fathered six children. He was also engaged to Jerrika Karlae but their relationship ended in 2017 when rumors of cheating started to emerge.

“He shouldn’t have told the world because it’s like, these days, motherf—ers just, it’s just all judgment. Like, motherf—ers just judging. It ain’t even about the music no more. Once you found out he was gay, everybody, soon as the song come on now, everybody, like, ‘This gay ass n—.’ N—s don’t even care to listen to the song no more,” says Williams.

Luckily, in this day of age more and more people are starting to feel more safe living as their authentic selves. William’s feminine wardrobe and his rockstar/rapper persona are just a few reasons why millions of people all over the world are drawn to him.
