Scientists are learning that eating organic might be tied to a lower cancer risk, but there are some big caveats
Organic produce doesn’t come cheap.
Fruits, vegetables, meats, and dairy that are certified organic can be 25% to 100% more expensive than the non-organic varieties. It’s tough to know whether the steeper price is worth it for your health, since the merits of buying organic have been a subject of debate for years.
But a new long-term study aims to shed fresh light on whether eating organic food could lower your risk of developing some deadly cancers (click image to continue article).

Is there plastic in your poop? New study on microplastics in stool raises concerns
There’s a good chance a dose of tiny plastic particles has taken up residence in your gut, a new, small study argues.
Microplastics, as they are called, were found in stool samples from a handful of volunteers located across Europe and Asia, researchers report.
Every single person out of the group of 8 had microplastics in their stool, on average about 20 particles for every 3.5 ounces of stool, said study author Dr. Philipp Schwabl, a researcher with the Medical University of Vienna (click image to continue article).

Titanic 2, An Exact Replica Of The Original, Will Set Sail On The Same Route
You’re no doubt familiar with the real-life parable of hubris known as the voyage of the Titanic. In short, we built a ship we thought was unsinkable, then it sunk. And then we all learned a valuable lesson about humility like Job and moved on with our lives. By which we mean, we’re doing the exact same thing again.
The Titanic II, which is really what it’s called, is going to set sail in 2022, reports USA Today. And no this isn’t viral marketing for a sequel to the James Cameron movie. This is a real thing that Blue Star Line is spending $500 million on and has been planning since 2012, when the project was first announced. It was held up for several years over a financial dispute, but is thankfully back on track to tempt fate in the near future (click image to continue article).

New Jersey mom Krystle Platzer was seriously bugged by the breakfast sandwich she purchased last Thursday at Dunkin’ Donuts.

CDC says polio-like disease is puzzling. These doctors disagree
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it doesn’t know what’s causing a sudden rise in cases of a frightening, polio-like condition that leaves children paralyzed or with weakened limbs.
The No. 1 suspect had been a virus called enterovirus D68, or EV-D68. In 2014, a wave of cases of acute flaccid myelitis coincided with outbreaks of EV-D68 across the country.
But the CDC says it has not consistently found EV-D68 in confirmed cases since then. Officials say they’re looking at a range of possible causes (click image to continue article).
