Extinct Animal Found Alive and Well in New Zealand

A tiny marine animal that was thought to be extinct for the past four million years has just been found living in New Zealand.

This “living fossil” is tentacled polyp called Protulophila, and they were previously only found in fossil deposits in the northern hemisphere, specifically Europe and the Middle East. Scientists think their history extended back 170 million years into the Middle Jurassic, before they went extinct in the Pliocene; the last trace of them were found in (Click the title to read the full article)


Investigation Finds Exxon Ignored Its Own Early Climate Change Warnings


Despite its efforts for nearly two decades to raise doubts about the science of climate change, newly discovered company documents show that as early as 1977, Exxon research scientists warned company executives that carbon dioxide was increasing in the atmosphere and that the burning of fossil fuels was to blame.

The internal records are detailed in a new investigation published Wednesday by InsideClimate News, a Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization covering energy and the environment.

Mormon Church makes same-sex couples apostates, excludes children from blessings and baptism


The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced a new policy in its handbook stating that children living in a same-sex household may not be blessed as babies or baptized until they are 18.

The policy change, which also states that those in a same-sex marriage are to be considered apostates, was confirmed Thursday by church spokesman Eric Hawkins.

Anonymous posts Ku Klux Klan alleged sympathisers list


The hackers’ collective Anonymous has shared details of hundreds of alleged sympathisers of the white supremacist Ku Klux Klan (KKK) on the internet.

Anonymous said the data was “a form of resistance” against racial violence.
