Kuwait says an Iranian attack hit a power generation and water distillation plant for the second time in two days, starting a fire at parts of the facility and forcing emergency teams to protect the country’s electricity grid.
The report marks a fresh infrastructure-focused escalation in the widening Iran crisis. It is separate from Kuwait’s earlier airport disruption and from the first reported strike on a Kuwaiti desalination facility two days ago.

The Guardian reported that Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said a power and water distillation plant was attacked by Iran for the second time in two days, causing a fire in some facilities.
The ministry said the attack affected a large number of electricity generation units and triggered emergency plans meant to maintain the stability of Kuwait’s national electricity grid. Firefighters were working to extinguish the blaze while authorities assessed the damage.
Emirates 24/7, citing the Kuwait News Agency and WAM, reported that Kuwait Fire Force crews responded quickly and that technical teams were working with security authorities to restore affected units as soon as possible.
Why This Is a New Escalation
The target matters because Kuwait depends heavily on desalination for drinking water. The Guardian noted that desalinated water accounts for about 90 percent of Kuwait’s drinking supply, making power and water facilities unusually sensitive during a regional conflict.
The latest report also suggests the infrastructure pressure is becoming sustained rather than isolated. The Kuwait report landed as U.S. strikes on Iran continued for an eighth consecutive night. Al Jazeera reported that U.S. Central Command said the latest strikes were designed to degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and to punish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after an attack that killed two U.S. service members in Jordan.
Iranian media also reported strikes around Sirik in Hormozgan province, Qeshm Island, and Shadegan in Khuzestan province. Al Jazeera reported no immediate casualty figures from those latest U.S. strikes.
