What is Birdman’s net worth? Good question and we have some answers. Before transforming into a feathered creature, Birdman was born Bryan Christopher Brooks on February 15, 1969, in New Orleans, Louisiana. As a kid, Birdman and his family lived above a bar, which was owned by his father. His mother became ill in 1975 and died.
After her tragic death, Birdman and his siblings were taken in by their uncle in Canada for three years, before returning to New Orleans and spending two years in foster care. After his father discovered they were in foster care, he battled for years to get full custody back.
Birdman developed a strong relationship with his step-brother, Eldrick Wise, once moving in with his father and his new wife. At the age of 16, both Birdman and Wise were arrested for selling heroin. They were arrested again at the age of 18 and spent three years in Elayn Hunt Correctional Center. Birdman spent 18 months in prison before he was acquitted of all charges.
After his release, Birdman started focusing on music. He and his older brother “Slim” started their own record label and named it Cash Money Records in 1991. They traveled all over Louisiana to recruit all the local talent performing.
Their first artist signed was a local rapper named Kilo G. He released a horrorcore album on the label in 1991. After years of grinding, Cash Money Records became a pretty popular independent label, especially in the south.
They had two big clients in the late ‘90s, one of those being Lil Wayne. It was then they started the Hot Boys group with Wayne, Turk, Juvenile and B.G. Thanks to the popularity of the group, the label was able to sign a $20 million deal with Universal Records in 1998.
In 2002, while still going by the name Baby, Birdman released his debut major studio album. The album peaked at number 24 on US Billboard 200 and sold over 500,000 copies worldwide. He released his second studio album titled Fast Money in 2005. It debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 and sold over 65,000 copies in its first week. Needless to say, Birdman’s net worth was ballooning.
In 2006, Birdman and Lil Wayne teamed up for the collaborative studio album, Like Father, Like Son. The album peaked at number three on the charts and has sold over 700,000 copies worldwide.
Thanks to his success in the business side of things, Birdman was named the fifth highest-earning star in hip hop by Forbes in 2013. He made $21 million in 2013 alone. In 2019, Birdman’s net worth stands at $80 million. He is in the millionaires club with Beyonce, Steve Harvey, and Mike Tyson! However, Birdman still has a ways to go before he reaches the wealth level of Bill Gates!
