The Arab League has condemned Iran’s renewed missile and drone attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a violation of both countries’ sovereignty and a threat to regional security.
In a statement reported by the Qatar News Agency, Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit called for the immediate halt of Iranian military actions targeting Gulf states. He said Iran bore responsibility for actions that undermine diplomatic efforts to calm the region.
Gulf News also reported the statement, saying Aboul Gheit reaffirmed the league’s support for Bahrain and Kuwait and urged all parties to commit to de-escalation and work toward a sustainable ceasefire.
The condemnation adds a diplomatic front to the latest phase of the Iran crisis, which has centered on the Strait of Hormuz and attacks linked to shipping and U.S. military positions in the Gulf. The Guardian reported that Bahrain said a residential building near its international airport was damaged, while Kuwait said it intercepted incoming missiles and reported no immediate injuries or major damage.
The latest regional statements come as U.S. and Iranian officials are expected to resume technical talks in Qatar after a weekend of strikes threatened a fragile ceasefire framework. Those talks are expected to focus heavily on security arrangements around the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway central to global energy shipments.
No independent casualty figure from the Bahrain and Kuwait attacks has been confirmed in the Arab League statement. The group framed the strikes as a breach of international law and said support for calm should lead toward a durable ceasefire rather than another round of retaliation.
