Prove Yourself The King (or Queen) of Cosplay With These Crazy Difficult Anime Characters to Portray

Anime and cosplay. They go together like peanut butter and jelly, fries and ketchup, or salt and vinegar. Oh great. Now I’m hungry. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is, if you go to an anime convention you’re going to find plenty of cosplayers.

And what you’ll see is always amazing, especially because when it comes to anime, there are some INSANE character designs. So, if you want to prove yourself as the King (or Queen) of Cosplay try your hands at these crazy difficult anime characters to portray.

Beerus (Dragon Ball)

If I’m being honest, this one can be ANY anime character that doesn’t have a human face. But Beerus, with his sphinx cat-lookin’ face just came to mind first. You could easily find his outfit online. However, you’re either gonna need to search for quite the mask or be extremely good at papier-mâché. Those ears are gonna be a nightmare. Plus, he’s fairly shirtless, so you’ll need lots and lots of body paint. I can just imagine the mess now…

Erza Scarlet in Heaven’s Wheel Armor (Fairy Tail)

Erza Scarlet

Okay so you remember the Gold Saints from earlier, right? Great. Now take those, make them silver instead, AND ADD A BUNCH OF WINGS! Look, aside from how insanely difficult it’s going to be to make this, you also have to think about how you’re gonna even get in the door of the convention center. But hey, you know what they say “Anime is full of practical outfits and armor”. Actually, I’m pretty sure no one’s ever said that. My bad. Well, you’ve gotta start somewhere, so how about this Erza wig? Now you don’t have to do EVERYTHING from scratch.

Alphonse Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist)

Yes, Al is just a “simple” suit of armor (especially compared to some of the others on this list), but I can’t tell you how many attempts I have seen at this cosplay, and it always looks…off.
That’s not to say the effort isn’t amazing, it always is and it’s WAY better than anything I could make, but the final product just never feels 100% there. Even the live-action adaptation did CGI instead of practical. Maybe one day someone will make an official Alphonse Elric suit of armor. But until then you can always get Al’s helmet.
