Whether its baguettes and berets or petanque and wine, France is well know around the world for its various quirks and traditions. While some of these are overblown…yes, people in France do take showers, others carry a lot of truth. Wine is indeed very important to French culture. And although the French do enjoy long lunch breaks they are not quite as lazy as some rumors would have you believe. While France is certainly not a perfect country, it does do a lot of things going for it. Along with the UK, it is one of the fastest growing and most culturally diverse European countries. It is also the number one most visited country in the world with over 83 million tourists annually (the United States comes second with 73 million). With a varied geography that goes all the way from the Cote d’Azur in the south with its swaying palm trees to the icy peaks of the Alps to the green rolling hills of wine country, France is a nation well worth visiting and spending some time in.
