The cheapest brands are cheap for a reason. You don’t need to splurge, but good shoes are worth having.

Do your research. There are really cheap ones out there that will cause you infinite frustration. If you don’t have time to research, go with a solid brand (like Apple). Besides, anything cheaper than the cheapest mac typically isn’t worth it (except for edge cases like genuinely only needing it for email…in which case, just use your phone)

Get the features you want right from the get go. You’re already spending 30 grand. You don’t want to regret not spending the other 2 grand to make it comfortable.

Note: this doesn’t mean to say yes to everything the salesperson suggests. Do your research first and know what you want before you actually hit the lot. In fact, as a rule you should never agree to any extra feature unless you already knew about it beforehand and had decided that you wanted it.
