On March 31, 2019, Hussle was shot multiple times outside his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, in South Los Angeles. Hussle was hit five times in the torso and once in the head.

Hussle was among two others wounded in the shooting. All three victims were transported to a hospital, where at 33 years old, Hussle was pronounced dead.
LA Police Commissioner Steve Soboroff tweeted on Sunday night that he and LAPD Chief Michel Moore were meeting with Hussle and Roc Nation representatives to discuss how they could help police help kids and stop gang violence the next day.
Witnesses have reported seeing a man fleeing in a vehicle after the shooting. The lacking description of a “black male” has left the Los Angeles Police Department in an ongoing search.
Hussle frequently referenced his upbringing in his lyrics and gave back to his community in many ways. He bought shoes for students, fixed playgrounds and basketball courts, provided jobs and shelter for homeless residents, and even paid for funerals of those who could not afford them.
Hussle’s legacy is quoted as being “more movement than music,” which is evident in the outpouring of tributes by both fans and fellow celebrities alike.
