Just as a disclaimer – all animals are potentially dangerous (yes, even your cuddly hamster). If you mess with them they’ll mess with you. This list is not intended to make anyone hate cuddly animals. End of disclaimer. With that said, get ready for a safari because these are 25 dangerous animals that are deceptively cute!

Cassowary
Found in Australia, this bird looks rather ridiculous but trust us, if you disturb it, prepare for attempted disembowelment (yes, that is actually their go-to attack strategy).
Deer
You thought they just prance around and eat grass? You better adjust your preconceptions. Deer, especially bucks, have been known to charge and trample humans.
Cats
We’re not talking about house pets, nor are we talking about lions. We mean the mid-sized cuddly looking pumas and panthers. Don’t be deceived by their smaller stature, they are often just as dangerous as their lion/tiger counterparts.
Dolphins
They look like fun animals, but guess what? They kill sharks. And guess what else? They could easily do the same to you.
Beavers
They are extremely territorial and do not hesitate to use their teeth.
Pufferfish
Pufferfish poison is very potent and will easily kill you by paralyzing your diaphragm…which means you can’t breathe.
Red Fox
It’s usually wolves that get the bad rep, but foxes can be just as vicious. In fact, they have been known to hunt small humans aka children.
Raccoons
Although you usually think of them as just playing in the trash, if you try to steal their pleasure they will use their claws to seriously mess your life up.
Chimpanzees and Apes
Have you ever seen Planet of the Apes? Seriously though, monkeys may act funny, or entertain you at the zoo, but if you make them angry be prepared to face their wrath.
Red Backed Jumping Spider
These terrifying arachnids possess incredible stalking abilities and are also insanely fast.
Elephant
One of the few animals known to be vindictive, there have been cases of mistreated elephants escaping and then coming back to kill all of their captors.
Catfish
Although they typically won’t kill humans, their stings will leave you nauseated, swollen, and possibly in need of amputation.
Slow Loris
It might be slow, but the poison it secretes from its elbows is insanely dangerous.
Gila Monster
One of the few venomous lizards in the world, it has no problem killing a human.
Blue Ringed Octopus
Despite its size, this tiny creature is often regarded as one of the world’s most venomous animals.
Leopard Seal
Although its primary target is penguins, these vicious seals have been known to hunt humans.
Moose
You probably never knew this, but moose actually attack more people annually than bears.
Parrots
Their beaks are extremely powerful and as many unfortunate parrot owners have reported, handle them at your own risk.
Wild Geese
Geese are extremely territorial and if you mess with them they will protect their ground like you have never seen before.
Pfeffer's flamboyant cuttlefish
Its colors are actually nature’s way of saying “get out of here now before you die a slow painful death due to extremely toxic venom”.
Bears
Although they look cute, even vegetarian panda bears have been known to end human lives rather abruptly.
Giant Anteater
While its diet consists almost exclusively of ants, its large claws have been known to dish out significant damage, especially to curious humans.
Hyenas
Being attacked by hyenas is probably one of the top contenders for the”worst way to die” award. These vicious creatures have been known to eat virtually anything, including humans. And they don’t even leave the bones.
Wolverine
Possibly the most aggressive creature on our terrestrial ball, these little villains have been known to take down animals as big as a moose.
Poison Dart Frog
Indigenous Indians actually use the poison from this frog in their blowgun darts because it kills so quickly.
