Every country has something to be ashamed of. Sometimes those things are not too bad and can actually be quire humorous. Other times however, those things are REALLY bad. Whether it’s a butter shortage in Norway or an actual war against emus in Australia, today we are going to share with you 25 Countries With Something To Be Ashamed Of.

Most of Scandinavia and the German speaking world

The Emu War – The Australian military lost a war against emus. Two of them in fact. (just Google Emu War)

The Daily Mail. In spite of supporting Hitler right up until the eve of the war in 1939, this is still somehow Britain’s most popular tabloid.
The invention of fascism.
Tourists. The government even had to release training material teaching tourists how to act when abroad.

Losing to Germany in the World Cup

Note: Ecuadorians love the clown.
“The Stolen Generation,” when aborigine children were forcibly removed from their homes
The Imperial System. It fought a war to get rid of the British but still uses the king’s foot as a basis of measurement. Also, other things…
The Kardashians (yes, it’s a joke)
Bullfights. Many Spaniards aren’t actually very proud of them. Also, the conquistadors.
Apartheid. Also, it went from having world class infrastructure in the 90’s to constant power outages. There’s even a joke that asks, “What did South Africans use before candles?”….”Electricity!”
The caste system and how it still affects society in spite of being abolished.
The presidency. After Vaclav Havel basically went down in history as the poet/politician/revolutionary of the century, the Czech presidency has been held mostly by drunkards and pen stealers (Google it).
Outside Russia…Stalin. Inside Russia…Yeltsin.
You thought your country’s politicians were bad? Just talk to a Malaysian.
Not mattering. At all.
Drug cartels. To make things worse though, the drug cartels often do more for the local communities than the government does.
Having no government for almost 2 years and not being able to tell the difference from when there actually was a government.
