Although you are probably not always aware of it, most movies involve stunt doubles to some extent. In the heat of the action it may be hard to tell but when the cameras quit rolling and the actors take a minute to unwind things become a lot more obvious. Most actors have a photo double as well. For insurance, time, money or whatever reason, when there’s a shot that may not get the face close-up, it’s usually not even them. I was Richard Gere’s photo double in The Jackyl, which everyone assumes I meant stunt double. But I just filled in for him when the camera wasn’t right in his face. I wonder how much actual screen time some actors put in on some movies; it can be pretty low, especially considering their payment. You’ll note that the double’s get crap clothes that sort of resemble what the actor’s wearing in the shot as well. Life is so unfair!
